Similar to Fargesia murielae, this bamboo looks best when grown in partial shade and is more upright. Plant it directly into the ground for maximum growth and form. The culms emerge an intense reddish burgundy color. This is a great bamboo for the lazy gardener. It is tough, beautiful and clumping. The previous time this bamboo flowered was in the late 1880’s.
