BAMBOO - CANADA'S BAMBOO WORLD BAMBOO PLANT CATALOGUE

In this catalogue we have tried to include as much information on each bamboo plant as possible.  All of the bamboos listed are evergreen with leaves in winter.  Minimum temperature ratings are estimates in Celsius.  With winter protection these plants may be able to survive much colder temperatures than those listed below.  Individual results will vary. Maximum height and culm diameter are under ideal conditions.   The prices listed below are in Canadian funds.  Please note that British Columbia residence are charged an additional 7% P.S.T. plus 5% G.S.T.  The rest of the country only pays the G.S.T.

Our plant sizes are categorized according to the size of the pot that they are planted in: #1=one gallon (45cm in circumference X 15cm tall), #2=two gallon (65cm in circumference X 22cm tall), #3=three gallon (80cm in circumference X 19cm tall), #5=five gallon (86cm in circumference X 24cm tall)  and #7=seven gallon (101cm in circumference X 31cm tall).

Fargesias are clumping bamboo’s that come from the alpine forest’s of west and southwest China. These are the bamboo’s preferred by the panda. The Fargesias are valuable garden plants in the North because they are both hardy and clumping, unusual in that most clumping bamboo’s are not very hardy. The older culms are weeping while the current growth is upright. Give the culms plenty of room for a strong architectural effect. They grow slowly which makes a mature plant very valuable. They do best in open shade and prefer a cool climate. Ideal for Canada.
